From Yesterday to Today
In the 1950s, the world was witnessing rapid technological progress and an increasing demand for effective communications. At that time, Midland was a U.S. company supplying telecommunications equipment to American law enforcement. After initial success in the United States, we embarked on an ambitious international expansion plan.
In the 1970s, CTE International was born, our first European subsidiary in Reggio Emilia, Italy. This strategic move allowed us to consolidate our presence in the European market, leveraging the growing demand for portable communication devices. The Italian headquarters quickly became a hub of innovation and production, significantly contributing to our growth and success.
In 1995, Midland officially became Italian: from Kansas City to Reggio Emilia, connecting the whole world. Today, Midland is a company with its headquarters in Reggio Emilia, with 50 people working in Italy, 10 in Spain, 10 in France, 20 in Germany, and 50 in the United States, still maintaining the straightforwardness and genuineness of a typical family-owned business from Emilia, built above all on human relationships.
A story of innovations
Our history includes important technological milestones. In the 1970s, we launched the first certified CB Radio in Europe, followed by the first LPD walkie-talkie and the first motorcycle-to-motorcycle intercom. Discover our milestones in the gallery below.
Today, we are a global brand recognized for our technological excellence and the quality of our products. With a presence in over 90 countries and a network of strategic partners worldwide, we continue to lead the communications industry toward new frontiers. Our commitment to innovation and quality remains as strong as it was in the beginning, and we look to the future with the same passion and determination that marked our early steps in Kansas City.
