ECE 22.06 approved intercoms by Midland

Midland is behind the first intercom that meets the requirements of the ECE 22.06 regulation, which has redefined helmet safety performance in almost every country worldwide, including Italy. We are talking about the BT Mini, which obtained homologation certification in March 2024, complying with all standards in terms of size, weight, and performance in case of impact, rotation, or crushing.

Today, Midland’s commitment to safety continues to grow, and the list of certified devices is expanding, offering motorcyclists a complete range of Universal Accessories (UA) ready for next-generation helmets:

  • R1 Mesh: the new benchmark for hybrid Mesh/Bluetooth technology; features a redesigned look, simplified interface, and RCF audio excellence.

  • BTR1 Advanced X: the technological evolution for those seeking superior audio performance.

  • BTR1: reliability and power in an essential design.

Also noteworthy are Midland’s ECE 22.06 certified collaborations with leading helmet manufacturers, resulting in solutions designed to integrate perfectly with specific models, ensuring maximum aerodynamics and safety. These partnerships enable tailor-made systems, developed to deliver an optimal user experience and perfect harmony with helmet design.

Once again, the Italian company, headquartered in Reggio Emilia, stands out for its contribution to innovation and technology in the motorcycle accessories sector, where it holds important milestones such as launching the first bike-to-bike intercom in 2008 and developing an extensive range of models to meet all motorcyclists’ needs, from solo riders to couples and groups.

From July 1, 2023, it is no longer permitted to manufacture helmets under the previous ECE 22.05 approval. Helmets already on the market and those purchased remain usable, but all new models must comply with the stricter ECE 22.06 standards, designed to improve rider safety.

The new regulation requires that every helmet component, from visor to intercom, be certified according to the new standards, addressing aspects not considered in previous regulations. Communication systems can be approved together with the helmet as SA (Specific Accessories) or separately as UA (Universal Accessories).

Midland Europe believes in the certified UA market and once again demonstrates its ability to meet the needs of the two-wheel world in terms of innovation, safety, and support services.
