Girlgonebiker: female biker with a capital “B”
Midland bikers! Today it's time to tell you the story of Claudia Farina, aka Girlgonebiker, a young influencer and passionate motorcyclist who loves sharing her life made of motorcycle dreams, enchanting pop illustrations, and stunning bike tours through the Swiss Alps. Claudia is the official biker girls Midland's spokeswoman because you know, the motorcycle is also pink... fire red to be honest!
Hello Claudia, first of all, thank you so much for giving us this interview! Let's start with your nickname: who's hiding behind Girlgonebiker?
“Wait, let's change “hides” with “tells”, I like it better! I'm a 31-year-old girl and I'm originally from the small Italian region called Molise. If you hear me speak and perceive a vague Roman accent, it's because I grew up in Rome and then moved to Modena, New York, Milan, and finally Lugano, Switzerland. I'm a traveler and a dream chaser :) And that's exactly what I try to tell with Girlgonebiker. It's about how I chase my dreams, desires, life goals. Whether you do it on two the wheels or not, it's always the heart that moves everything, don't you think? :)”
When and How did your motorbike passion begin?
“It was born by chance in 2000 when my "nerd" era began. There was a PC game I couldn't part with, that obsessed me most of all, it was called Motocross Madness. From there I began dreaming about the two wheels!
That feeling of freedom, that feeling of life running through your veins, that urge to feel part of the landscape... That was me! So I waited to "grow up" to get my license getting rid of my mom's apprehension (sorry, Mom!). Easy, peasy! It took me a while anyway... the whole thing lasted 29 years, but you know better late than never, right? Oh no, better “Good things come to those who wait,” I like it better!”
How did your passion for intercoms start and why did you choose Midland?
“When I began to take my first steps in the two-wheeled world, I realized that communication between motorcyclists was fundamental in some situations, just as it is essential to receive indications road by navigators.
Three years ago I bought my first intercom, it wasn't Midland, it wasn't user friendly, and the audio quality left to be desired.
After a short while I felt the need to have something better performing. So, after an afternoon spent on the web analyzing what the market offered, my choice fell to the Midland universe and since then I never separated from it!”
What Midland product do you think every biker should always have?
“I own the H9 action cam, the BTT Button, the BTX2 PRO S and the BT Mini, I'd say every biker could NEVER be without one of the Midland intercoms. No matter if you choose the Mini, the BTX1 or the BTX2. My relationship with the BTX2 PRO S started more than two years ago and I have no idea to stop it!"
Okay, Claudia, the last question, then we let you go back to your beloved bike! How does Midland help you live your Biker Dream?
“I have to tell you a secret, but promise not to laugh... I don't drive car... I only ride my motorbike! After I got my license I began moving from city to city, and having a car around the world with me was more of a problem than a logistical convenience.
So my car license has been left away years (and still does)! Since the first day I got my bike, I finally gained the independence I was always looking for and went from being the “passive passenger” to the “active rider”!
Midland has been and will always be crucial in my motorcycle tours:
Do you want music in boring city traffic? Midland intercom is on it!
You're on a motorcycle and your boss is calling you and you don't know how to answer? Midland got you covered!
You don't know how to get to that restaurant where they make fabulous pasta and you don't want to waste time studying the route? Midland won't leave you on an empty stomach transmitting the GPS directions into your helmet.
So I can say for sure that without Midland I would have a sad life!”
